IP-MED Final International Conference in IP Law and Practice – Strategies for the Mediterranean Region - “Best practices in Intellectual Property Law Studies in the Mediterranean Region”
With International and local participation; on Wednesday, March 23, 2017 ,in The Founders Theater/ Admin Mechanical Labs Building, iPARK, the Royal Scientific Society,Al-Jubaiha, Amman, the conference covered a wide range of topics about IP for Development: Current Challenges and Future Perspectives in the Mediterranean Countries and the economic Development and the Role of IP Education through the established Master Degree programme on International and Comparative Intellectual Property Law in ENPI South universities; The main focus of the conference was to explain the sustainability of the initiative and future plans of the IP-MED ,Tempus project and to promote the importance of its ongoing nature and its utilization within the Mediterranean region. Furthermore, the Conference will provide a platform for the award ceremony for the Master students in IP.
Participants from Palestine, Jordan, and Egypt ,the project Coordinator and the participants and resource persons from Maastricht, and Tallinn Universities, involved in this conference activity. Participants acknowledged the organization and the implementation of the program. The all participated in the opening ceremony and gave blessings to the activities which were lasted for one full long day.
The IP-MED International Conference brought together a wide range of stakeholders to discuss the role of intellectual property (IP) in economic, social and cultural development. It served as a forum for the exchange of different perspectives at national, regional and international levels. There were numerous opportunities to engage with top experts from Europe and exchange experiences and best practices on how IP contributes to development.
The opening session of the conference was attended by Dr Mohammed Aljafari- Business Park for Project Development – iPARK, Prof. Ahmad Abu-El-Haija Erasmus plus Office in Jordan, , Dr. Imad Braik - Project Coordinator ,IP-MED –Tempus Project, Mrs. Zain Al- Awamleh -Director of Industrial Property Protection Directorate, Jordan.
Dr. Imad Ibrik, Coordinator of the project - An-Najah National University welcomed the participants and provided a brief presentation about the "Tempus IP-MED" project, which aimed at building up ENPI South HEIs' competences in the field of Intellectual Property (IP) Law and practice in order to enhance innovation capacities and technology transfer in the region for development and growth.
In the same context, Dr. Mohammed Aljafari Director of Intellectual Property Commercialization Office, Jordan started in talking about the Developing Integrated IP Management and Governance for Academic and Other Institutions; sharing IPCO experiences in policy and system development.
On the other hand, Representative of the EU program "Erasmus" in Jordan welcomed the attendees of the conference, and he gave a presentation about the Erasmus Plus program.
The representatives of the partners universities (the Palestinian, Jordanian, Egyptians and the European ones); the participants in the working papers at the conference; representatives from the private and governmental sector and civil society institutions, as well as a number of members of the administrative and teaching bodies at the universities and master students, The all participated in the opening ceremony and gave blessings to the activities which were lasted for one full long day.
